Uzbekistan expands tourism cooperation throughout the CIS region

Dushanbe hosted meetings between the delegation of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives of the CIS countries and heads of international tourism projects.

Sanjar Tojiev, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee, met with Nurbol Baizhanov, Chairman of the Committee of Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties discussed expanding tourism exchanges between the two countries, developing interregional and cross-border tourism, and jointly promoting Central Asia as a single destination in third-country markets.

The parties discussed organizing joint presentations, tourism forums, press tours, and weekend tours between Kazakhstan’s Turkestan, Kyzylorda, and Mangystau regions and Uzbekistan.

The Kazakh side was invited to take part in the 31st Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road”, scheduled for November 25-27, 2026.

The delegation met with Yulia Zaikova, Head of the Travel HUB “The Commonwealth” Project, and a representative of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat.

During Uzbekistan’s presidency of the CIS Tourism Council, the parties considered expanding cooperation on the Travel Hub Sodruzhestvo project. They proposed regularly highlighting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and ongoing projects on the platform throughout 2027.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to develop tourist exchanges, enhance business relationships, and pursue joint projects.
