Uzbekistan expands cooperation with the Green Climate Fund
Tbilisi hosted the GCF Regional Dialogue with Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Uzbekistan’s delegation was led by Alisher Salomov, Advisor to the Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change.
The event focused on climate finance, investment project preparation, the development of national climate platforms, and strengthening regional cooperation.
During talks with the leadership of the Green Climate Fund, the parties discussed expanding Uzbekistan’s access to climate finance, supporting the accreditation of SQB Joint-Stock Commercial Bank, and developing a portfolio of new investment projects.
The event also featured meetings with representatives of UNIDO, ACTED, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Incofin Investment Management.
The participants discussed establishing a green industrialization hub in Uzbekistan, developing a climate microfinance project for Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, and expanding environmental insurance, waste management, land restoration, and private financing for agriculture.
