Uzbekistan – Austria Business Forum takes place in Tashkent
The Uzbekistan–Austria Business Forum took place in Tashkent.
The event, aimed at expanding mutual trade, economic and investment cooperation, and strengthening ties between business circles, was attended by representatives of government agencies, the business community, financial institutions, and major companies from both countries. According to the program, presentations on the parties’ investment potential, as well as B2B and B2G meetings, were also held.
Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shokhrukh Gulomov, emphasized that the forum is an important platform for elevating trade, economic, and investment relations to a new level.
The participation of more than 100 representatives from business circles in the forum demonstrates the parties’ strong interest in the prospects for cooperation and their high level of mutual trust on this path.
Over the past five years, the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Austria has tripled. Today, more than 50 enterprises with capital from both countries are operating.
It was noted that cooperation with Austrian companies such as Lasselsberger, Doppelmayr, AME, and Borealis is steadily growing in the fields of construction materials, mountain tourism, healthcare, and the chemical industry. Financial institutions such as Raiffeisen and UniCredit are actively participating in major projects being implemented in the country.
As part of the visit by representatives of the European state to Uzbekistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Federal Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner.
The parties discussed issues related to intensifying political dialogue, expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and developing ties in the areas of security, migration, education, tourism, green energy, and cultural and humanitarian affairs.
Several documents were signed following the talks. In particular, the Protocol and the Additional Protocol “On introducing amendments to the Convention on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital”, the Agreement “On partnership in the field of migration and mobility”, and the Agreement “On exemption of holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements” were approved.
