Uzbekistan and Mongolia: The scope of business cooperation is expanding
Tashkent hosted the Uzbekistan – Mongolia Business Forum.

Speakers at the forum particularly noted the positive dynamics in the development of trade and economic relations. In the first quarter of 2026, Uzbekistan’s exports to Mongolia increased by 15.6 percent. The successful operation of 20 enterprises in Uzbekistan with participation from this country has created a solid foundation for future cooperation.

It was noted that, through a systematic approach and by leveraging existing potential, bilateral trade turnover could soon exceed $100 million. To achieve this goal, plans include intensifying direct contacts between entrepreneurs and removing barriers to trade.

During the dialogue, industrial cooperation was identified as a priority area. The issue of establishing joint facilities at Uzbek textile enterprises to process Mongolian wool and cashmere was discussed.
In the agricultural sector, the main focus was on livestock breeding. By 2029, plans call for increasing the number of Mongolian-breed sheep in Uzbekistan to 1 million. This effort will proceed alongside the introduction of Uzbekistan’s greenhouse farming and drip irrigation technologies into the partner country’s agricultural sector.

The development of logistics routes was also a focus. The parties expressed their intention to launch pilot cargo transportation along the Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China – Mongolia corridor. Coordinating transport routes will significantly reduce costs and help shorten delivery times between the regions.
“The Uzbekistan – Mongolia Business Forum was held in a roadshow format for the first time”, says Sayidabdulloh Rahimov, chief specialist at the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade. “This major event is a logical continuation of the agreements reached between the heads of state last year. The main goal of the event is to support the business communities of both sides in implementing new trade, economic cooperation, and investment projects. Among the nearly 100 entrepreneurs gathered in one place were representatives of more than 40 major Mongolian companies and sectors, as well as businesspeople. During their visit to our country, members of the foreign delegation became closely familiar with major industrial technoparks, agroclusters, and large food manufacturing enterprises. Many bilateral agreements were signed during the talks”.
The field of geology and mineral resources was recognized as a new factor in the development of partnerships. In this area, a representative office of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Geology was opened in Ulaanbaatar. Active work is underway with the Mon-Atom company on a project to develop uranium deposits in Mongolia.
It should be noted that the Mongolian delegation includes executives from leading companies across key sectors of the economy, including Suzur Health Med, which specializes in the pharmaceutical and food industries, Prime Nomadic Meat, which operates in livestock breeding, Tsamkhag Construction, which is engaged in construction, Khos Art, which focuses on textiles, and New Tech Mandala, which operates in high technology.
During B2B and G2B meetings held as part of the forum, a specific list of future projects was compiled, and an agreement was reached to establish a permanent mechanism to support joint investment initiatives.
