Uzbekistan and Hungary implement a digital groundwater monitoring project
Namangan State Technical University (NamSTU) and GeoGold Kárpátia Environmental and Engineering Expert Ltd. have signed a research and development contract worth $1 million. The parties signed the agreement during Innoweek 2026 in Tashkent.
Cooperation began in 2025, when a delegation from the Agency for Innovative Development of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GeoGold Kárpátia during a visit to Hungary.
The new contract has become a practical result of the agreements reached and provides for the implementation of the Fergana Valley Groundwater Management Project.
As part of the project, it is planned to develop and produce 245 digital mini-stations for groundwater monitoring. The scope of work includes equipment technical design, software development, prototyping and testing, and phased deployment and mass production.
The project has a planned five-year implementation period. The initiative focuses on introducing advanced digital solutions for groundwater monitoring and on fostering scientific-technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
