Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan: trust-based relations continue to grow stronger

As part of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan continue to develop steadily, underpinned by trust between the two countries’ presidents.

Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the historic significance of Azerbaijan’s accession to the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The decision was adopted at the summit in Tashkent in November 2025.

To strengthen cooperation, the parties agreed to hold the Second Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Forum and prepare a joint action plan for 2027-2028.
