Uzbek and Turkish art meet in Tashkent
Tashkent is hosting a series of events that bring together different aspects of Uzbek and Turkish culture at one venue. The Islamic Civilization Center received a facsimile edition of “Kulliyot-i Navoi”, and the two countries’ culture ministers discussed prospects for cooperation. The cultural program continued with a joint concert featuring Uzbek and Turkish artists.
To mark the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, the “Uzbekistan – Türkiye Culture and Art Meetings – Turkish Cinema Days” have opened in Tashkent.
Scheduled for September 24-29, the program of events aims to develop cultural ties between the two countries, strengthen exchanges among artists and creative groups, and introduce audiences to a diverse selection of Turkish cinema.
The program’s first day featured several notable events that brought together historical heritage, official dialogue, and the arts. The Islamic Civilization Center was one of the key venues on the day’s agenda.
The Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited the center and toured its exhibition. The guests were briefed on unique exhibits related to the history and culture of the Islamic world, as well as examples of historical and cultural heritage preserved at the center.
The ministers of culture of Uzbekistan and Türkiye also discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation in culture and the arts, ongoing projects, and opportunities for future collaboration. They focused in particular on exchanges between creative groups, strengthening ties between cultural institutions, and increasing joint projects in cinema, theater, music, and literature.
The program continues beyond September 24. In the days that follow, audiences in Tashkent will have the opportunity to attend Turkish Cinema Days.
On September 25, the opening ceremony of the Turkish Cinema Days will take place at the National Cinema Palace.
According to the program, film screenings will be held at the National Cinema Palace from September 25 to 29, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
