Support for families in need to be expanded
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation outlining proposals to strengthen social protection for the population, primarily families in need, during the autumn and winter period.
Geopolitical tensions worldwide, rising energy and raw material prices, and disruptions to supply chains and logistics are intensifying inflationary pressures in many countries. In this context, measures to reduce household expenses and provide targeted assistance to families in need are becoming particularly important.
At the presentation, ways to expand existing support mechanisms for the payment of electricity, gas, coal, and utility bills were considered.

In particular, a proposal was approved to increase the basic electricity consumption allowance during the heating season from 200 to 350 kilowatt-hours in areas without gas and in districts where gas is unavailable.
It was also proposed to consider providing one-time financial assistance to families in need in December.
A proposal was also considered to raise the per capita family income threshold for reimbursing electricity, gas, coal, and utility expenses for families in need who are not included in the Social Register to 1.43 million UZS. This would extend support to an additional 166,000 families.

It was proposed to extend until April 1, 2028, the period during which part of the cost of electricity and gas consumption above the basic allowance is reimbursed. The measure is expected to cover 470,000 families annually. Work will also continue to insulate 3,000 homes in mahallas with difficult living conditions and to equip them with energy-efficient devices.
The Head of State instructed the Government to allocate the funds for the planned assistance promptly, ensure that support is targeted to families in need, and strengthen oversight to ensure it reaches every recipient.
Several instructions were also given on transforming the operations of enterprises that produce and supply energy resources, improving management efficiency, and reducing high costs and losses in networks.
