Press conference held with the participation of a U.S. delegation
A press conference was held at Tashkent State Medical University with the participation of a delegation from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, led by Executive Vice President Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Health E. Basitkhanova, representatives of the World Health Organization Office in Uzbekistan, and staff of the Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology, and Immunology.

The participants discussed measures being implemented in Uzbekistan to combat childhood cancer and current issues in international cooperation. Participants were provided with detailed information on the delegation from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s visit to the country.

It was noted that the visit program had a comprehensive and strategic nature, covering key areas, including improving clinical practice and pharmaceutical supply systems, the digitalization of the sector, and the development of palliative care. During the week, the guests became familiar with the operations of the Uzbekistan Airports Cargo logistics complex and the process of storing and transporting oncology drugs in compliance with cold-chain requirements at the vaccine warehouse of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health. They also visited the Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology and the “Taskin” children’s oncology hospice.

The foreign experts highly praised the reforms being implemented in the country.
