Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discuss implementation of high-level agreements

As part of his working visit to Baku, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The President of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan’s successful chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia and the organization of its seventh summit.

The Presidents discussed further strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Particular attention was paid to implementing the agreements reached during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August this year.

The two leaders welcomed the productive contacts at all levels. Bilateral trade has increased by 30 percent since the beginning of the year. Joint projects are progressing in geology, energy, construction, transport and logistics, light industry, tourism, and other sectors.

An extensive program of cultural and humanitarian exchanges is also underway.

The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan also exchanged views on international and regional issues and discussed the schedule of upcoming events.
