President visits modern pharmaceutical plant in Almazar
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the RomPharm NS pharmaceutical plant.
The Presidential Decree “On additional measures to accelerate the development of the pharmaceutical industry”, of January 28, 2025, supports expanding the industry’s production capacity and introducing modern technologies.

The RomPharm NS plant in Tashkent’s Almazar district is a notable example of these efforts.

The plant aims to provide the domestic market with high-quality pharmaceutical products and expand the production of import-substituting medicines. Its annual production capacity is expected to reach 1 billion tablets, 500 million capsules, and 120 million sachets.

The plant is one of the first pharmaceutical facilities in Central Asia with a full production cycle and a quality control laboratory operating under EU GMP standards.

The total project cost is €45 million. The plant occupies 1.7 hectares and has created 150 new jobs. 90 percent of its production processes are automated. Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Switzerland, and Bulgaria supplied modern equipment.

The plant’s products are aimed entirely at import substitution. Production focuses primarily on medicines for neurology and cardiology, as well as medicines that regulate metabolic processes and treat inflammatory diseases.

During the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of expanding production capacity through modern technologies and supplying the domestic market with high-quality pharmaceutical products. He noted that the key objectives are to reduce dependence on imports and create new jobs in the industry.
The President was also briefed on the plant’s plans.
