President meets with representatives of Tashkent region’s community

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a ceremonial meeting with representatives of Tashkent region community at New Uzbekistan Park in Nurafshan.

The event was attended by members of the older generation, young people, and community activists. The Head of State warmly welcomed those gathered, noting that he was pleased to meet the region’s residents again.

As noted, until recently, Tashkent region, despite its considerable economic and investment potential, lacked its own administrative center. In a short period, the city of Nurafshan has been radically transformed, with modern administrative, social, and cultural infrastructure established.

The city has developed New Uzbekistan and Vatanparvar parks, a memorial complex dedicated to Zulfiya Zakirova, as well as public gardens and avenues. It also features an artificial lake, an amphitheater with fountains, and pathways for cycling and pedestrians.

“Every enterprise, every street and building, every square and public garden here is the result of work carried out together with the tireless, hardworking, and dedicated residents of the region”, the President noted.

It was noted that today the city of Nurafshan stands as a symbol of New Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the city’s name means “radiating light” and “the light of enlightenment”. Therefore, the city should shine not only through its modern appearance but also through its development, culture, governance, and attitude toward people.

Nurafshan has also gone down in history as the country’s first city built according to the “smart city” model. Digital governance, cultural facilities, intelligent transportation, energy-saving technologies, and environmentally friendly infrastructure are being introduced here as a single, integrated system.

The Head of State emphasized that the primary goal is to transform Nurafshan into a city of science, high technology, and youth. A modern Youth Campus is under construction here, featuring a 1,000-seat Palace of Culture, a regional branch of the Academy of Arts, an Artificial Intelligence Center, an Information Resource Library, and a Vocational Training Center.

On the same day, the foundation stone was laid for the Future Technologies Center, which will be built on a 35-hectare site. The facility will become a center for artificial intelligence and digitalization, serving not only Tashkent region but the entire country. It will house research centers and high-tech laboratories.

As part of the Nurafshan Business City project, administrative, business, educational, medical, cultural, and residential zones are being developed as a single harmonious complex. In particular, a 700-bed multidisciplinary medical center to be built on a 10-hectare site will provide the public with more than 60 types of highly specialized, technology-driven medical services, including telemedicine and robotics.

The large tourist and cultural complex, currently under construction and comprising an Oriental Bazaar, artisan streets, national pavilions, an amphitheater, and modern recreational facilities, will also become one of the city’s landmarks.

It was emphasized that Tashkent region is a key pillar of the country’s economy. The region accounts for about 10 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. Over the past five years, the region has attracted $16 billion in foreign investment. Today, about 3,000 enterprises with foreign capital operate here, and exports have reached $3 billion.

The President also addressed new projects to develop the region as a unified economic and transportation space with Tashkent. A decision has been made to expand public transportation routes connecting the region to the capital and to launch modern train services between Tashkent and Nurafshan.

“Together with you, the entrepreneurs, farmers, representatives of the intelligentsia, the older generation, and the energetic youth of Tashkent region, we will improve this land and transform it into a strong, reliable pillar of the country’s economy”.

“I firmly believe in this, and as President, as the Head of State, I will devote all my strength and resources to ensuring a peaceful, prosperous, and happy life for the hardworking people of Tashkent region and for our entire nation”, the Head of State said in conclusion.

The event continued with a cultural program.

Following this, the President concluded his visit to Nurafshan and returned to Tashkent.
