Malaysian students produce media content on Uzbekistan
A group of students and faculty members from the Faculty of Art, Design and Media at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia has completed a creative trip across Uzbekistan. Over two weeks, the participants produced storytelling content focused on the country’s historical and cultural heritage and its modern image.
The group, made up of 18 individuals, including professional photographers and designers, traveled from August 17 to 31. During this time, they visited Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Tashkent, capturing images and footage of famous attractions, cultural heritage sites, museums, handicraft centers, and contemporary urban areas.
The trip concluded in the capital, with a key focus on the Islamic Civilization Center. Malaysian guests engaged in an educational program, a media festival, the “Night at the Museum” tour, and multimedia mapping shows. These activities generated substantial photo and video content.
In Tashkent, university representatives toured the Hazrati Imam Complex, which includes the Barak-Khan Madrasah and Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum, as well as the Zarqaynar handicraft street. Exploring traditional crafts and national culture inspired some of their creative projects.

The participants visited the Museum of Applied Arts, the State Museum of the Temurids History, the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. They also filmed at the State Academic Grand Theatre named after Alisher Navoi, Navruz Ethnographic Park, and the modern Magic City and Tashkent City complexes.
In their works, the guests aimed to depict Tashkent as a city where historical heritage seamlessly integrates with contemporary architecture and a vibrant urban scene.
The content produced during the trip will be shared on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
