Joint management of transboundary water resources discussed
Yeraly Tugjanov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, participated in the 14th session of the Joint Working Group focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in water relations.
The meeting was chaired by Nurjan Nurjigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Shavkat Khamrayev, Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties commended the ratification of the intergovernmental Agreement on the Joint Management and Efficient Use of Transboundary Water Bodies. They also examined the draft Regulations for the Joint Kazakhstan – Uzbekistan Commission, which will function as a permanent mechanism to implement the agreement.
Particular attention was paid to automating hydrological monitoring stations in the Syrdarya basin and to improving the water resources accounting system. The importance of introducing modern digital solutions for the efficient and rational use of transboundary water resources was emphasized.
Following the meeting, the relevant protocol was signed.
The 15th meeting of the Joint Working Group will be held in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As part of the cultural program, Yeraly Tugjanov, along with members of the Uzbekistan delegation, visited the Miramonat Mosque.
