International Investment Forum kicks off
The “Do Business in Syrdarya!” International Investment Forum has kicked off in Gulistan.
Organized by the Syrdarya Regional Hokimiyat, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the forum brought together over 300 foreign investors from 20 countries, 300 local entrepreneurs, diplomatic representatives accredited in Uzbekistan, and 10 delegations from partner regions.
Opening the forum, Erkinjon Turdimov, Hokim of Syrdarya region, welcomed the participants and noted that the event aims to go beyond conventional presentations and pave the way for new projects and practical cooperation.
The forum focuses on turning the region’s potential into actual investment projects, forming new partnerships, and increasing its appeal to investors. Participants learned about initiatives to boost the business climate, such as easing administrative tasks for entrepreneurs, removing some document requirements and digitizing processes, implementing a moratorium on inspections for small businesses, and other related measures.
Negotiations with international guests played a key role in the event. Yu Jun, China’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, delivered a video address. The participation of representatives from Lianghe Great Agro, Wu Zhong Energy, FM World, Lesso, and OTR Group shows that cooperation is becoming a more systematic process.
The B2B and B2G meetings during the event focus on delivering tangible outcomes. In discussions among investors, entrepreneurs, and government officials, participants negotiate to establish new projects, increase production, and strengthen collaboration.
The B2B and B2G meetings also proved productive for Gulistan district. A $10 million memorandum was signed with investors from Afghanistan, providing for the export of cement products from Gulistan district to Afghanistan.
A $5.5 million memorandum was signed with Chinese investors regarding the production of tobacco products. The project will be allocated a three-hectare land plot through an auction.
Another notable aspect of the forum is an industrial fair featuring products from both foreign and local enterprises operating in Syrdarya. The fair allowed visitors to observe not only the finished goods but also the production processes established in the region, as well as localization prospects and export opportunities.
