IICA explores future collaboration opportunities between Central Asia and the Nordic countries
Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) Javlon Vakhabov held a meeting with the State Secretary at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eivind Vad Petersson.
The parties discussed recent regional developments in Central Asia, how global changes are influencing the region’s progress, and the potential for expanding cooperation within the “Central Asia – Nordic Countries” framework.
Javlon Vakhabov highlighted that Central Asia is consolidating its role as an autonomous and proactive player in global affairs. He mentioned that countries in the region are eager to deepen their cooperation with Nordic nations, drawing on their expertise in sustainable development, the green economy, digital innovation, education, good governance, and peaceful diplomacy.
Eivind Vad Petersson highlighted the rising interest of Norway and the Nordic nations in Central Asia, emphasizing the region’s expanding importance on the Eurasian stage. He pointed out that the growth of the “Central Asia – Nordic Countries” format offers new opportunities for expert discussions and collaboration in areas such as sustainable development, climate change, water security, education, and regional resilience.
