Dakar 2026: Muhammadismoil Rahmonov’s historic result and first medal

Swimming competitions are underway at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. Uzbekistan’s Muhammadismoil Rahmonov won the national delegation’s first medal.

Rahmonov won bronze in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke final, finishing in 2:15.79. Japan’s Iori Miyazaki took gold in 2:12.33, while Lithuania’s Domas Vilmas won silver in 2:13.50.

This result is significant not only because it marks Uzbekistan’s first medal at Dakar 2026, but also because it is the country’s first-ever swimming medal at the Youth Olympic Games.

Muhammadismoil Rahmonov has thus opened Uzbekistan’s medal tally at the Dakar 2026 Games.
