CIS foreign ministers to meet in Moscow
On April 17, Moscow will host a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported that during the meeting, the heads of foreign policy agencies will discuss current international and regional issues and key areas of cooperation within the CIS, BelTA reports.
Special focus will be given to cooperation in the political, law enforcement, cultural, and humanitarian areas, including in light of the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth being celebrated this year. It is anticipated that, after the meeting, several decisions will be made to enhance foreign policy coordination among the member states.
According to Maria Zakharova, the ministers are expected to consider granting the status of CIS base organizations to two Russian educational institutions, as well as reviewing the results of the 2025 implementation of the plan of inter-ministerial consultations and the program of actions to develop partnership among the foreign policy agencies of the Commonwealth countries. “Most of the approved documents will be submitted for subsequent approval by the heads of state and government of the CIS”, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
