Applying Spanish experience to Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector
Boosting agricultural productivity goes beyond merely planting crops or applying fertilizers at the right time. Above all, it requires improving soil conditions, managing water and other resources efficiently, and adopting advanced technologies. Today, this is one of the key priorities for the agricultural sector.
The Spain – Uzbekistan Business Forum, held in Tashkent, offered an opportunity to approach these issues through the lens of foreign experience and cooperation.
About 20 Spanish companies participated in the event, discussing the expansion of trade and economic relations with Uzbekistan, the launch of new investment projects, and the introduction of modern agricultural solutions.
Preserving soil fertility, improving land resource quality, and reducing production costs remain highly relevant in Uzbekistan’s agriculture, along with increasing crop yields. Neglecting soil health, non-compliance with agrotechnical requirements, and outdated approaches today will affect tomorrow’s harvest.
During meetings with representatives of Spanish companies, the parties discussed opportunities to produce and supply mineral and organic fertilizers, as well as implement modern solutions to improve soil fertility.
The parties also exchanged views on the commercialization of soil disinfection products, advanced technologies, and innovations.
Industry representatives noted that the business forum will help expand the dialogue between the two countries’ businesspeople, identify new areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector, and develop promising projects.
