Uzbekistan – Germany: new prospects for agricultural cooperation
The Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurahmonov met with Matthias Vollert, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan, and a delegation led by Martina Englhardt-Kopf, Parliamentary State Secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Regional Identity.
The meeting focused on advancing agricultural cooperation between the two countries by expanding trade in agricultural and food products, introducing modern technologies, strengthening research ties, and implementing joint projects.

During the talks, a proposal was made to establish a German Agricultural Center within the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture (AKIS).

Discussions also covered how to draw on Germany’s experience in financing farms, strengthening agricultural lending systems, and managing agricultural cooperatives. Participants also considered a proposal to establish a regional platform for exchanging agricultural technologies among Central Asian countries.

Particular attention was also given to cooperation in education and personnel training. The parties discussed establishing a modern practical training center in partnership with Germany’s Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. The center would accommodate 200 head of cattle and include a 50-hectare experimental site.
The German delegation expressed its interest in strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the agricultural and food sectors.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to deepen agricultural cooperation, explore ways to put the discussed initiatives into practice, and continue their joint projects.
