Uzbekistan expands tourism cooperation with Indonesia
The “Uzbekistan – Indonesia Tourism Forum: New Horizons in Bilateral Tourism, Ziyarah and Cultural Connectivity” took place in Jakarta. The event served as a platform to showcase Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, establish business contacts, and discuss new areas of cooperation with Indonesian partners.
The forum was organized in collaboration with the Tourism Committee and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Indonesia, bringing together representatives of Umrah associations, tour operators, companies, and other specialized business entities from both countries.
Uzbekistan’s opportunities, the historical sites of the Great Silk Road, and the country’s rich Islamic heritage were showcased at the event. Special attention was given to the development of pilgrimage tourism and routes related to the legacies of Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, Imam Termizi, and Bahauddin Naqshband.
The Umrah Plus Uzbekistan program, which allows combining Umrah trips with visits to historical and pilgrimage sites in the country, was one of the central topics of the forum. As part of the program, a $100 per tourist subsidy is provided to the relevant tour operators who attract tourists to this destination by the end of 2026.

G2B and B2B meetings took center stage in the forum’s program. Participants discussed opportunities to develop joint products, promote pilgrimage routes, expand cooperation among tour operators, and increase tourist flow from Indonesia to Uzbekistan.
Following the meetings, memoranda of cooperation were signed with the Indonesian associations, Amphuri and Astagatra.
The forum held in Jakarta was another step toward strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries. The agreements reached create additional opportunities to promote the Umrah Plus Uzbekistan program, form new joint travel packages, and increase the number of Indonesian tourists visiting Uzbekistan.
