Uzbekistan expands dialogue on technological diplomacy
The international symposium “Tech Diplomacy Asia” was held at the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Tech Diplomacy Global Institute, coincided with the first anniversary of the adoption of the Samarkand Declaration on Tech Diplomacy.
The Declaration was signed on November 1, 2025, in Samarkand during the UNESCO General Conference and became the world’s first document of its kind. During the symposium, participants summarized the results of the past year’s work and discussed prospects for joint development of technological diplomacy in Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Rustam Karimjonov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bahromjon Aloyev, Director of the Islamic Civilization Center Firdavs Abdukhalikov, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Sabine Machl, and Founder and President of the Tech Diplomacy Global Institute Ayumi Moore Aoki attended the event’s opening ceremony.
About 25 representatives from government agencies, international organizations, the scientific community, businesspeople, civil society, and youth participated in the roundtable discussions.

During the discussions, participants exchanged views on priority areas of regional cooperation, opportunities to use technological diplomacy tools effectively, and future tasks.
The symposium served as a key platform for broadening international dialogue on technology, consolidating efforts toward shared objectives, and advancing new initiatives to foster cooperation among countries.
