Uzbekistan delegation attends 27th CIS Meeting on Seed Production
The 27th meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Coordinating Council on Seed Production, along with an international conference, took place in Avaza, Turkmenistan, on October 6-8.
The Uzbekistan delegation led by Shukhrat Ganiyev, State Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Agricultural Development, participated in the event.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the meeting focused on developing cooperation among CIS countries in agriculture, improving breeding and modern seed production systems, and coordinating interstate specialization and supplies of agricultural seeds and planting material for 2027-2028.

Participants also exchanged views on best practices for adapting to climate change, developing and introducing high-yielding, drought- and disease-resistant varieties, digitalizing the seed production sector, and strengthening quality control.

As part of the event, Shukhrat Ganiyev held a series of bilateral meetings.
During talks with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atahallyyev, the parties discussed exporting high-yielding agricultural crop seeds, organizing joint trials of new varieties, and exchanging best practices in the sector.

At a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Ziyozoda Sulaymon Rizoi, the parties agreed on practical mechanisms for cooperation in seed production and on the transfer to Tajikistan of Uzbekistan’s agricultural achievements and new agricultural technologies.

The parties also discussed prospects for expanding exports of locally produced seed material under the “Uzbek Seeds” national brand, aligning the seed production system with international standards, and making effective use of digital technologies in the sector.
