Uzbekistan-China: Expanding Cooperation in Environmental Education and "Green" Professional Training
A delegation led by I. Qutbiddinov, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited the People's Republic of China. The delegation held a series of meetings and negotiations on developing environmental education, creating modern curricula for "green" technical colleges, and training qualified personnel in ecological fields.
During the visit, important agreements were reached aimed at elevating cooperation between the educational, research, and environmental organizations of Uzbekistan and China to a new level.
Specifically, a memorandum was signed between "Green University" and "Beijing Vocational Agricultural College" that provides for faculty and student exchanges, the implementation of joint scientific projects, the organization of lectures, and the exchange of educational and methodological materials.
Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between "Green University" and the "Hainan Satellite Data and Application Research Center (HSDARC) " on the use of satellite data and remote sensing technologies in environmental monitoring. The document outlines the implementation of joint projects, the establishment of an expert exchange, and the training of specialists in the field.
A memorandum of cooperation was also signed between the "Energy and Environmental Development Research Center (EED) " and "Green University." During the meetings, the possibility of expediting the work to establish a modern laboratory at Green University was also considered.
One of the key focuses of the visit was the development of modern educational programs for 14 "green" technical colleges being established in Uzbekistan. In this regard, negotiations were held with representatives of educational institutions in Inner Mongolia, where establishing long-term cooperation, involving international specialists in the educational process, and developing joint educational programs were discussed.
Members of the delegation familiarized themselves with the activities of "Hohhot Vocational and Technical University" and "M-Grass Ecology and Environment (Group)," studying China's experience in organizing vocational education, training qualified personnel, environmental restoration, and landscaping.
During the visit, a meeting was also held with Mr. Zhao Yingmin, President of BRIGC and former Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China. During the dialogue, prospects for cooperation were discussed in the areas of developing green infrastructure, ensuring environmental sustainability, combating climate change, restoring the Aral Sea region, preventing desertification, managing water resources, and digital environmental monitoring.
Overall, the agreements reached during the visit are of great importance for improving the system of environmental education and vocational training, strengthening scientific cooperation, introducing modern environmental technologies, and training highly qualified personnel for the sector. This visit was a significant step toward bringing cooperation between Uzbekistan and China to a new level in the fields of environmental education, science, vocational training, and modern "green" technologies.
