Uzbekistan – Belarus: interparliamentary dialogue opens up new prospects

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, who arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in the Uzbekistan – Belarus Interparliamentary Forum.

The sides discussed developing interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus, strengthening ties, and identifying new areas of interaction. They exchanged views on intensifying direct contacts among parliamentary committees, interparliamentary cooperation groups, and regions.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in organized labor migration. The sides exchanged views on improving mechanisms for the legal employment of citizens and on protecting the labor, medical, and social rights of specialists.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached to strengthen institutional cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Belarus, expand interregional ties, support entrepreneurial initiatives, and step up interaction within international parliamentary platforms.
