Uzbekistan and Sweden are enhancing their collaboration in the mining industry
A meeting with a Swedish delegation, led by Diana Janse, State Secretary to the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of the Kingdom of Sweden, was held at the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the ministry, the parties discussed expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden, reviewed the outcomes of the recent delegation visit to Sweden, and exchanged views on implementing the agreed-upon measures.
Special focus was given to the current status and prospects of developing joint projects with Epiroc, Volvo CE, ABB, and Green14. These initiatives are crucial in integrating advanced technologies into the sector, boosting production efficiency, and adopting modern industry practices.

During the meeting, participants discussed developing human resources, enhancing the specialist training system, and implementing investment projects. They also discussed future opportunities for cooperation related to adopting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles in the mining industry and aligning with international sustainable development standards.

The two ministries signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in the mining sector. This agreement will establish a strong basis for elevating bilateral relations, broadening joint projects, and fostering long-term, effective collaboration in the industry.
