Uzbekistan and Pakistan: From trade to investment and joint production
The Uzbekistan – Pakistan Business Forum took place in Karachi, featuring leading companies from Pakistan’s main commercial center. The event focused on strengthening trade and economic ties, attracting investment, and launching joint production ventures.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, led by Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev. Attendees learned about Uzbekistan’s investment opportunities and promising cooperation sectors, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics, and more.
Special focus was given to shifting from traditional trade toward the adoption of joint investment and production initiatives.
Arif Habib Group plans to seek investment opportunities in Uzbekistan across sectors such as industry, real estate, infrastructure, and capital markets. A company delegation is anticipated to visit Uzbekistan to explore potential cooperation.
Al Karam, a textile company, is open to exploring joint production projects in Uzbekistan. Additionally, the Al Karam Studio brand is thinking about entering the Uzbek market and opening a branch in Tashkent.
Discussions with Gul Ahmed Textile Mills focused on the prospects of building a factory in Uzbekistan to produce high-value finished textiles for export to global markets.
During the meetings, special focus was given to fostering industrial and logistics collaboration. The parties discussed the possibility of creating a dedicated industrial and logistics zone for Uzbekistan companies within Karachi Industrial Park.
The discussion also covered how effectively utilizing the ports of Karachi and Qasim can expand export routes for Uzbek products to African countries, Southeast Asia, and other regions worldwide.
