Uzbekistan and Korea launch new agricultural projects
Uzbekistan and South Korea are developing new initiatives to integrate innovative agricultural technologies, attract investment, and train personnel with up-to-date skills.
During his state visit to the Republic of Korea, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in several meetings focused on strengthening collaboration in agriculture.
An agreement was reached with the leadership of the Global Projects Office at the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) to establish the Uzbekistan – KRC working group.
The parties decided to launch grant projects to implement water-saving technologies, increase soil fertility, and develop smart livestock farming.
The parties focused on climate change adaptation. Thomas Eriksson, Director of the Department for Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East Region of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), agreed to attract grant funds from the Fund for climate change mitigation and adaptation in the agricultural sector.
The parties outlined specific plans to create greenhouse complexes. Participants discussed implementing projects in Khorezm and Tashkent regions with the head of KIDL, Co., Ltd., Kim Jae-yong.
The cooperation also covers exports. Sungshin L&P, Inc. leadership and other participants outlined plans to export fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan to the Korean market and to import advanced Korean seafood-processing technologies into Uzbekistan.
The delegation devoted significant attention to personnel training in the agricultural sector. A cooperation agreement was signed with Dankook International Cooperation on Agriculture, which provides for long-term and short-term training courses and joint educational programs to train highly qualified specialists with modern knowledge and skills.
The agreements will contribute to the widespread adoption of advanced technologies in agriculture, as well as to the growth of the industry’s investment and export potential.
