Uzbekistan and Italy expand cooperation on labor migration and medical personnel training
Expanding employment opportunities for Uzbekistan citizens in Italy, training medical personnel, and further developing cooperation in seasonal employment were the main topics discussed at a meeting between Migration Agency Director Mukhsinkhoja Abdurahmonov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Uzbekistan Guido De Sanctis.
The parties focused on cooperation in the healthcare sector. As part of the agreements reached, 10 health workers from Uzbekistan completed advanced training in Italy last year. Further expansion in this direction is currently under discussion.
By the end of the year, about 20 highly educated nurses are planned to be trained to work in Milan. In addition, 30 doctors are already studying Italian, which is necessary for their future professional activities in Italy.
It was noted that the regions of Lombardy, Piedmont, and Sardinia maintain a strong interest in attracting medical specialists from Uzbekistan. In this regard, the parties discussed language and professional training for personnel, as well as further assistance with their employment.
During the meeting, the parties also reviewed the results of cooperation on seasonal employment. Recently, 38 citizens from Namangan arrived in Ferrara to work in the agricultural sector.
Thus, cooperation between the two countries is gradually expanding from individual projects to systematic training and employment of specialists in Italy. Future efforts will focus on increasing the number of in-demand personnel, enhancing their language and professional training, and expanding legal employment opportunities for Uzbekistan citizens across various regions of Italy.
Nurses with a higher education degree are already eligible to register for the training program designed to prepare them to work in Italy.
