Uzbekistan and Afghanistan enhance their transport partnership
Kabul hosted discussions on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in transport and transit sectors.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilhom Mahkamov and the Minister of Transport and Aviation of Afghanistan Muhammad Fazil Mazlum.
The parties discussed developing international road freight transport, creating favorable conditions for domestic carriers, and optimizing fees for Uzbek transport companies operating in Afghanistan.
Following the meeting, it was agreed to hold the next interagency working group session by August 10, focusing on fee reduction and setting fees according to the principle of reciprocity.
Additionally, the parties agreed to schedule a separate working meeting soon with representatives from Afghanistan’s relevant agencies to review and address the issues encountered by national carriers.
