Uchqizil Lake
The construction of Uchqizil Lake in Uzbekistan’s Termez district began on 29 December 1954. The total area of the lake is 160 million square meters, of which the usable area is 80 million square meters, and 80 million square meters is a non-usable, silty area. The source of filling is the Surkhan River.
The designed irrigation area of the lake is 13.6 thousand hectares. The water of the lake is used for irrigation purposes by Surkhon Namuna, Surkhon Khalqabad (Termez district), Mamatqul Azizov, Zang (Angor district) Water User Associations. The southern dam of the lake has a length of 1750 meters, the western dam is 2260 meters, the maximum depth is 40 meters, the minimum is 2.6 meters.
The coastal zone occupies 43.3 hectares. It has favorable conditions for developing eco-tourism. Currently, recreation areas, cafes, retail outlets and boat trips are organized here. Work is underway to implement eco-tourism projects.
