The President of Uzbekistan to attend the Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors
On May 3-4, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Samarkand.
The Head of State will deliver a speech at the event’s opening ceremony and will also hold several meetings with heads of foreign delegations.
The main theme of the meeting is “Crossroads of Progress: Advancing the Region’s Connected Future”. The forum will be one of the key international platforms for discussing priorities in global and regional economic development.
Participants' focus will be on issues such as green transformation, energy transition, digitalization, attracting investment, food security, and the resilience of industrial supply chains.
Delegations from more than 100 countries will take part in the five-day summit, along with leaders and representatives of the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and other institutions, as well as approximately 2,000 representatives of foreign governments, top managers of leading international companies and banks, multinational corporations, and prominent experts. In total, more than 4,000 delegates are expected to participate.
Uzbekistan has been a member of the Asian Development Bank since 1995 and is among its largest partners, with a project portfolio totaling nearly $16 billion. The country is hosting the Bank’s annual meeting for the second time.
