The groundwork has been established for the energy future of New Uzbekistan
The first concrete was poured into the foundation of the first power unit of the integrated nuclear power plant in Farish district of Jizzakh region.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took part in the official ceremony online from Saint Petersburg. The leaders of the two states emphasized the strategic importance of this large-scale project.

The ceremony was also attended by Azim Akhmedkhadjayev, Director General of the Uzatom Agency, Andrey Petrov, First Deputy Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation, Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), industry representatives, students, and the general public.
Andrey Petrov, First Deputy Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, highlighted the project’s particular significance.

Mr. Petrov states, “The plant will serve as a model for the future of nuclear energy”, highlighting that the experience gained will benefit both Uzbekistan and the global nuclear sector. The project involves constructing RITM-200N reactors, each with a capacity of 55 megawatts, for a total of 330 megawatts for the entire plant.
The project’s importance extends beyond just megawatts. Hundreds of young specialists are learning new skills, and a state-of-the-art engineering school is being established – something unprecedented in the country. The nuclear power plant will catalyze the region’s growth.
In recent years, Farish district has seen the establishment of more industrial enterprises, modernization of roads and engineering infrastructure, and an increase in employment. The ongoing construction of the nuclear power plant is further speeding up these developments.
This project represents a new energy source for the country, opens up fresh economic opportunities, creates space for scientific advancement, and offers prospects for young people.
