The debut of Uzbekistan at the FIFA World Cup
The Uzbekistan national team participated in the FIFA World Cup for the first time, opening a new chapter in the history of national sports.
The national team played its first match in Group K against Colombia at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The match, officiated by the famous English referee Anthony Taylor, ended with a score of 3:1 in Colombia’s favor.
Abbosbek Fayzullayev scored the first goal in FIFA World Cup history.
In the other group match, Portugal and DR Congo drew 1-1.
On June 23, the Uzbekistan national team will play Portugal.
