Tennis: Maria Timofeeva and Polina Kudermetova compete in the 2026 Guangzhou Open

Maria Timofeeva and Polina Kudermetova are defending Uzbekistan’s honor at the Guangzhou Open, a WTA 250 event in China.

In the first round, Maria Timofeeva defeated Teodora Kostović of Serbia, 6-4, 6-1.

In the second round, Maria will face the winner of the Sun Xinran (China) vs. Mananchaya Sawangkaew (Thailand) match.

P. Kudermetova will play her first-round match against Janice Tjen of Indonesia.

In the doubles event, Maria and Polina will face Argentina’s Nicole Fossa Huergo and neutral tennis player Elena Pridankina.

The tournament’s total prize fund is $283,347.
