Tashkent celebrates the International Day of Yoga
A mass event dedicated to June 21, the International Day of Yoga, took place at Central Park, Tashkent.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Uzbekistan, the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture, the Ministry of Sports, and the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan, widely promoted the role of yoga in improving people’s health and achieving emotional balance.
Sharifjon Muminjonov, Advisor to the Minister of Sports, emphasized that interest in yoga is growing each year. He praised the efforts of the Embassy of India and the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, noted that yoga is not merely a set of physical exercises but a philosophy of life that strengthens a person’s physical and spiritual health.
A special exhibition titled “Ayurveda for People and Planet” was also organized. The participants became familiar with Ayurvedic remedies and products for a healthy lifestyle, as well as books, and received detailed information about methods of natural healing, disease prevention, and traditional approaches to health promotion.
The event, which brought together people of different ages and professions, demonstrated the positive effects of yoga on physical and mental health and strengthened cultural-humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and India.
