Tashkent becomes a global platform for migration dialogue
The International Migration Forum 2026 has officially opened in Tashkent, convening international organizations, government representatives, experts, employers, and media from across Europe and Asia.
The forum, dedicated to the social and legal protection of migrant workers and their family members, serves as an important platform for discussing safe, orderly, and legal migration and for strengthening international cooperation in the migration sphere.
Panel discussions and high-level meetings at the forum focus on labor migration, youth, gender, skills development, climate-related mobility, and new partnership opportunities.
During the forum, an interview was conducted with Arthur Erken, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at the International Organization for Migration.
During the conversation, the sides discussed current migration trends in the region, the protection of migrant workers’ rights, and the importance of strengthening international cooperation to ensure safe and legal migration pathways.
Arthur Erken emphasized that effective migration governance, regional dialogue, and international partnerships are essential to sustainable development and social stability.
