Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are entering a new phase
The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with a delegation led by the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali.
The parties discussed issues related to developing interparliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of experience in lawmaking and parliamentary control.
It was emphasized that thanks to political will, mutual trust, and regular dialogue between the two heads of state, relations between the historically close Uzbek and Tajik peoples are enriched with new substance. In particular, the state visit of the President of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan on March 26-27 this year, as well as the First Meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, outlined the prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Rustami Emomali highlighted the high organizational level of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held last year in Tashkent, and the 12th IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, held on September 4-6 this year in Samarkand. It was emphasized that the declarations adopted at the conclusion of these international events serve to develop inter-parliamentary dialogue and strengthen regional cooperation.
Tanzila Narbayeva, in turn, emphasized the high level of organization of the 4th Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian States, held in Dushanbe. Discussions on the sidelines of the forum help bring parliamentary positions closer on shared regional issues, exchange experience, and define areas of cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding trade and economic ties, developing industrial cooperation, improving transport and border infrastructure, and establishing direct contacts between Tashkent and Dushanbe.
The importance of expanding cooperation in cultural, humanitarian and social spheres, as well as exchanging experience in education, healthcare, and social support for the population, was highlighted.
Following the meeting, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan signed a roadmap for cooperation for 2027-2028.
