Quvonchbek Ismoilov becomes the world champion!
The U20 World Wrestling Championships have started in Bratislava, Slovakia. As usual, the event kicked off with Greco-Roman wrestling matches.
In the 63 kg weight class, Uzbekistan’s Quvonchbek Ismoilov competed against Russia’s Salim Karmakhov in the final. It was a tense, closely contested match, and Uzbekistan’s athlete secured a 9:7 victory to claim the world title.
Today, three additional Uzbek Greco-Roman wrestlers have the opportunity to secure bronze medals. Hojiakbar Quchqorov (55 kg) and Behruzbek Aliyev (72 kg) will compete head-to-head for bronze, with their opponents to be decided after the repechage rounds. In the 97 kg category, Fakhrikamol Komiljonov is set to face Japan’s Ryosei Katamatsu in the repechage.
