President of Uzbekistan meets with the Prime Minister of Malaysia
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim during his stopover in Tashkent.
During the meeting, issues related to developing bilateral relations and giving them practical substance were discussed in depth.


As a result of high-level visits, cooperation between the two countries has reached a new level. In particular, since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 15 percent, and the number of joint ventures has reached 50. Active contacts at various levels continue.
Touching on the importance of negotiations with the delegation from Malaysia’s Petronas Corporation, which is in Uzbekistan these days, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of strategic projects across various sectors of the economy.


In particular, special attention was given to promoting projects in petrochemicals, high-tech industries, agriculture, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and other priority sectors.
During the conversation, the parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in Islamic finance, interregional interaction, pilgrimage tourism, increasing the number of direct flights, and cultural exchanges.


Views were also exchanged on the international and regional agenda.
Following the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim to make a separate visit to Uzbekistan.
