President of Uzbekistan discusses further development of the partnership with the World Bank
On June 29, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a World Bank delegation led by Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank, who is visiting Uzbekistan to attend the Meeting of the World Bank Swiss Group of constituent countries.
Antonella Bassani extended sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga to the President of Uzbekistan.
Strengthening strategic cooperation with the World Bank Group in key areas of structural reforms underway in New Uzbekistan was discussed.

The high level of bilateral engagement and constructive partnership with this global financial institution in recent years was noted with great satisfaction.
The high-level agreements reached with the Bank’s President in New York City last September are being steadily carried out.
The portfolio of joint projects has exceeded $15 billion. The Bank’s regional office is operating successfully in Tashkent. New financing instruments are being introduced effectively.

The importance of thorough preparations for the upcoming visits by the Bank’s senior leadership and for joint events scheduled for this year was emphasized.
Plans to develop a new long-term Country Partnership Framework for the most in-demand areas of socioeconomic development were supported.

The focus was on expanding the Bank Group’s instruments to support small and medium-sized enterprises, taking measures to reduce poverty, collaborating on privatization efforts for state-owned enterprises, and integrating artificial intelligence into various economic sectors.
Close collaboration in funding the water sector, building human capital, and enhancing Uzbekistan’s position in international rankings was also recognized as a top priority.
