Patriotic, dedicated, and highly qualified journalists of New Uzbekistan
A ceremony dedicated to June 27 – Press and Mass Media Workers Day – along with an awards presentation for the winners of the International Competition for the 20th “Oltin Qalam” National Award, took place at the Uzbekistan Palace of International Forums in Tashkent.
Experienced journalists who have made a meaningful contribution to the development of the national media sphere, journalism veterans, and employees across all types of mass media were invited to the professional celebration.
A message of congratulations from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to press and media workers was read by Sherzod Asadov, the Head of the Communications Department of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Press Secretary to the President.
In his congratulatory message, the Head of State reiterated that he considers patriotic, dedicated, and highly qualified journalists as close friends and like-minded partners. He emphasized the invaluable role of media professionals and bloggers in communicating the essence and importance of the wide-ranging reforms happening today. They serve as a strong voice for the people and help findcollaborative solutions to social issues. In this fast-changing era, media representatives need to evolve their work to meet contemporary demands.
Over the past decade, the country’s mass media have adopted new, innovative formats that vary in content and style. All national and societal events are covered quickly, accurately, and reliably across print, television, and radio. Online journalism has emerged as the most sophisticated form of mass media. Journalists and the public raise pressing issues, which are responded to promptly and effectively.
The Head of State emphasizes the active support for creative professionals, including journalists. The previous day’s Presidential Decree, “On awarding a group of media professionals in connection with Press and Mass Media Workers Day”, exemplifies tangible support and recognition of the demanding work within the press, mass media, and publishing sectors.
Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented awards to a group of journalists and media representatives who received orders and medals in the country in accordance with the decree.
Shukhrat Oripov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 20th “Oltin Qalam” National Award and head of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, shared detailed information about the creative works submitted to the competition.
The international competition’s winners and prize recipients were awarded prestigious honors.
The “Tahlilnoma” news and analytical team of “O‘zbekiston 24” TV won the top national prize at the 20th “Oltin Qalam” International Competition. They received the President’s gift – a BYD Chazor vehicle – along with a special statuette and diploma.
