Friendship Festival begins with wreath-laying ceremony at Independence Monument

Today, the Friendship Festival began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Independence Monument in New Uzbekistan Park.

The ceremony was attended by the leadership and staff of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, activists from national cultural centers and friendship societies, representatives of government and public organizations, the media, young people, and members of the general public.

As is known, in accordance with a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, International Day of Friendship is celebrated worldwide each year on July 30. The date is intended to promote mutual trust, unity, cooperation, and tolerance among peoples. In Uzbekistan, the holiday is traditionally held as Friendship Week, bringing together representatives of different nationalities and cultures.

Continuing this good tradition, from July 23 to 31 this year, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, jointly with ministries and agencies, national cultural centers, friendship societies, and partner organizations, is holding events as part of the Friendship Festival.

The festival program includes scientific and practical conferences, spiritual and educational meetings, a youth forum, cultural events, concert programs featuring national cultural centers, exhibitions, creative dialogues, and other projects.
