First International Conference “Sister Cities 2026”
Tashkent hosted the first international scientific and practical conference “Sister Cities 2026”.
The forum brought together experts and specialists from more than ten countries, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Uzbekistan, international organizations, government and public institutions, higher education institutions, and mass media outlets.
As part of the conference, a plenary session and thematic sections were held, during which approximately 30 scientific and practical presentations were delivered. Exhibitions of national handicrafts and archival materials on “The history of Uzbekistan’s sister cities” were also organized.
Important initiatives that defined a new stage of interaction among cities were put forward. In particular, participants exchanged views on environmental sustainability, digital governance, the implementation of the “smart city” concept, the development of youth diplomacy, and support for innovative projects within joint programs.
The participants proposed elevating cooperation among sister cities to a higher institutional level, organizing regular forums, and expanding direct interregional ties.
