Cooperation with the UN in combating corruption deepens
The 15th Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Meeting to Enhance International Cooperation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the 20th Meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Asset Recovery are taking place in Vienna, Austria.
A delegation from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by R. Giyasov, Head of the International Legal Department, is participating in the meetings.
Discussions focused on implementing the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and strengthening cooperation in this field.
Participants exchanged views on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, as well as the identification, freezing, confiscation and return of criminal assets.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the delegation from Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor General’s Office is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with representatives of Latvia, Belgium, the Netherlands and other countries.
The talks will explore prospects for developing mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, facilitating asset recovery and expanding bilateral cooperation.
