A new electric train launched in Fergana Valley
A new railway connection has been launched in Fergana Valley linking Kokand, Namangan, Andijan, and Margilan.
The first trip along this route was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with members of the public, traveling from Kokand to Margilan.

The project was implemented in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 27, 2025, “On measures to increase passenger transportation indicators on local railway routes through 2030”.
It aims to improve transport connectivity in the densely populated Fergana Valley, create a convenient, safe, and accessible mode of transport for citizens, and increase passenger traffic volumes.

The 324-kilometer railway ring further brings the regions of the valley closer together, creating new opportunities for residents, entrepreneurs, and tourists.
The new train was manufactured at the Tashkent Plant for Construction and Repair of Passenger Cars. It consists of six carriages, accommodates 586 passengers, and can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

The ticket price is 15,000 UZS. This is significantly cheaper than road transport. The capacity to serve up to 1,500 passengers per day and around 600,000 passengers per year will contribute to increased economic activity in the region.

The carriages are equipped with climate control and air conditioning. Free Wi-Fi and USB ports for devices are available. Special lifts, spacious seating areas, and adapted restrooms are provided for people with disabilities. Bicycle mounts expand passengers’ options for further travel after the trip.

The video surveillance systems in the carriages and the impact-absorbing elements comply with international safety standards.
During the trip, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke with regional representatives about the ongoing changes in the region.

It was noted that the new circular railway line will elevate the tourism potential of Fergana Valley. The need to organize service facilities, hotels, and catering establishments near the stations was emphasized, which will create additional sources of income for the local population.
