Tashkent hosted an International Scientific-Practical Conference on “The role of the scientific heritage of Abu Rayhon Beruni in the development of world science”.
The event was organized by the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment together with the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The responsible employee of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdukhalil Mavrulov, the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, academician Akmal Saidov, the head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment Minkhojiddin Khodjimatov and others addressed the event. It was noted that in Uzbekistan, systemic work is being carried out in careful preservation of national values and traditions, in-depth study of the scientific heritage of great scientist ancestors, and promotion of their rich scientific and spiritual heritage.
At the international conference, domestic and foreign experts spoke in detail about the life of the world-famous encyclopedist Abu Rayhon Beruni and the significance of his activities in developing world science.

As noted at the conference, Beruni wrote over 150 works on astronomy, mathematics, mineralogy, geography, history, philosophy, and other sciences. 31 of them have reached us. These include fundamental scientific works. The invaluable works of Abu Rayhon Beruni on philosophy, geodesy, mathematics, astronomy, and other fields are still studied with great interest by leading universities and research centers in the world.
According to experts, the scientist approached each topic and problem based on the scrupulous scientific method he developed, which is entirely consistent with modern scientific methodology. In particular, regardless of the subject of the work, the sources used in the process of its creation are very extensive, both chronologically and geographically. The scientist’s works contain references to the works of scientists who lived in Central Asia, Khorasan, Iran, India, the Middle East, Greece, Rome, and other regions from the 5th to the 11th centuries AD.

– Today, the whole world recognizes that Abu Rayhon Beruni is an outstanding scientist, – said Pakistani expert Imran Parvez Khan. – Based on his invaluable works, scientists from many countries conducted their research. Of course, the works of Abu Rayhon Beruni served as an essential foundation for them. Thanks to this conference, we became acquainted with the renewal processes in Uzbekistan. At the same time, we have witnessed the country treat its historical heritage with great respect.

At the international conference, reports were presented on “Abu Rayhon Beruni and world science”, “Beruni’s pharmaceuticals”, “Beruni’s place in the history of hydrology”, and “The scientist’s contribution to the social and human sciences”.
