Tashkent hosted the StarTTech conference dedicated to development of information technologies and startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan, as well as the first anniversary of the founding of the country’s first IT Park.

Tashkent hosted the StarTTech conference dedicated to development of information technologies and startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan, as well as the first anniversary of the founding of the country’s first IT Park.

The event, organized by the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and IT Park, was attended by local and foreign IT specialists, domestic programmers and project managers working in large international companies, the first graduates of IT Park.

Director of IT Park Farkhod Ibragimov spoke about the goals and directions of development of the first Uzbek IT Park. According to him, IT Park has already become an organic part of the local startup ecosystem and has created favorable conditions for further development of the domestic startup movement. A number of tax and customs privileges and preferences were provided to its residents, and the necessary modern infrastructure was created specifically for them. In general, the entire park will consist of four buildings that will house a coworking center, an IT academy, a laboratory and an IT hotel. Branches of the IT Park will open in all regions of the country. In addition, in September 2019, a venture fund was created at IT Park, the funds of which are planned to be invested in the most promising IT academies and centers.

The StarTTech conference was divided into four sessions, during which topics such as the startup ecosystem, venture financing, IT education, and development of high-tech products export were discussed. Both local and foreign entrepreneurs, whose business grew from start-ups, presented their presentations here.

An exhibition of startups of the first IT Park graduates was held. A variety of projects were presented at their stands, reflecting new areas of the IT industry for Uzbekistan.
