Internet festival starts in Uzbekistan
Internet festival of national domain UZ 2010 started in Uzbekistan on 5 August. The organizers of the event are the Fund “Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan”, “Kelajak ovozi” youth initiatives centre, UZINFOCOM center and Mirada Software company.

Terminology and dictionaries service team of the State Unitary Enterprise «Unicon.uz» at Uzbek Agency for Communications and Informatization has completed work on three specialized dictionaries, printed by the publishing house «Fan» Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Uzbektelecom, the national telecommunications operator, is planning to expand the bandwidth of the external internet channel to 1 Gbps, the head of the company said.
Uzbekistan introduces digital TV broadcasting
Uzbekistan has started introduction of the digital television broadcasting, which should complete by 2015. Pilot zones of digital TV broadcasting have been launched in two cities – Tashkent and Bukhara.
ICT Council holds session
The Cabinet of Ministers’ Coordination Council for Computerization and ICT Development held its regular session. The main issue on the agenda was providing interactive state services through the official websites, registration of state information resources and accepting reports of the economic entities in the electronic form.
ICT sector’s profit grows
The profit of the information and communication technologies sector in the nine months of 2008 exceeded UZS 1 trillion, which is 65.8% more than in the same period of last year. Of that figure, the volume of services to the population increased by 43.2% to UZS 536 billion.
UNESCO forum on global digital technologies alliance opens
The UNESCO forum titled “Global alliance in the field of digital technologies” opened in the capital of Uzbekistan on 23 October. The event has been organized by the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information in cooperation with the National Committee of Uzbekistan on the program “Information for all” and the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO.

Summit on Information and Communication Technologies ends
The sixth Summit of the Information and Communication Technologies concluded in Tashkent. It was attended by about 400 delegates from Uzbekistan, Britain, Germany, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, the USA and other countries.
