Outstanding athletes from 14 countries of the world, as well as 114 domestic athletes, total 260 athletes competed in the competitions.

An extraordinary reporting and election conference of the Kurash Federation of Uzbekistan was held within the framework of the international tournament in Khorezm Mamun Academy. Activities of the organization were analyzed at the event, views were exchanged on further improving activities of national teams before the Asian Games. A new chairperson of the Federation was elected, tasks for the future were determined.

World Athletes in Khorezm

The main competitions took place in the sports complex “Yoshlik” in the city of Urgench for two days.

On the first day, women in the weight categories up to 52 and 78 kilograms, men – up to 66 and 81 kilograms competed at the international kurash tournament. Gulnoza Ziyoyeva from Samarkand, having overcome all of her rivals, took the first place.

Famous Turkmen athlete Maria Lokhova and our compatriot Gulnoza Matniyazova competed in the weight category up to 78 kilograms. Matniyazova won in this fight.

In the final of the competition among men in the weight up to 66 kilograms, Doston Kholikulov from Samarkand opened the tournament. He defeated Iranian Jafar Feruzobod, won the title of champion. Another compatriot Ruslan Buriyev and Kambarali Kambari from Iran won the bronze medal.

In the weight category up to 81 kilograms among men, the Iranian Omid Taztak defeated Sarvar Shomurodov, a representative of Samarkand region, in the final. Three of the winners were Kamoliddin Rasulov from Kashkadarya and Dayanch Umirov from Turkmenistan.

On the last day of the competition, men entered the carpet in weight categories up to 90 kilograms and over, and women in weight up to 87 kilograms. Representative of Uzbekistan Yahyo Imomov defeated Muhammad Malekmuhammaddemir from Iran in the final and became the winner of the international tournament. Mukhsin Khisomiddinov from Uzbekistan lost to Nematullo Akpanakulov from Tajikistan.

In the competition among women in the weight category up to 87 kilograms, Belkis Zehra from Turkey defeated our compatriot Rakhim Yuldashev.

Winners were solemnly awarded with the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and memorable gifts.
